An appointment must be made to see the doctor, either by telephoning reception on 028 3831 1409/1408 or by calling at the surgery.
Appointments are for 10 minutes. If you feel you may need a longer appointment please tell the receptionist, who will try to make provision for this. Occasionally, a problem may take longer than the allocated time, so you are asked to be patient if there is a delay.
Please note that an appointment is for one person. If two people need to be seen please make two appointments, otherwise delays for everyone are inevitable. Please phone in advance for an appointment with the doctor of your choice.
If you wish to see a particular doctor, we will normally offer an appointment within 7 working days. Please note that this relates to 7 days that the doctor works, and that Bank Holidays, weekends etc. do not count.
All patients will be offered an appointment with an appropriate health care professional within 48 hours
If you have an urgent problem, you will be seen on the same day by the first doctor available, who may not be your usual doctor. Please note that this appointment is intended to deal with the urgent problem, not with other unrelated problems that may be addressed at a routine appointment. The receptionist will ask for some brief details of the problem, as the doctor may decide that it can be dealt with by telephone.
If you cannot keep your appointment or it is no longer needed, please telephone and cancel the appointment. Even at short notice, the appointment can generally be offered to someone else.
Home Visits
The doctors are happy to make home visits to patients who are too ill to come to the surgery.
Only the doctor can judge if a home visit is necessary, so a complete description of the patient’s condition should be given.
Requests for home visits are preferably to be made before 10.00 am. Please provide the receptionist with details of the illness and a contact telephone number, so that the doctor can telephone if necessary to assess the problem.
Telephone Advice
If you feel you need to speak to a doctor please ring the receptionist and give her some details. Your message will be passed to the doctor, who will return your call after surgery.
In an emergency situation, your call will be transferred to the doctor immediately.
Calls for the practice nurse may be put through if she is free. Otherwise, she will ring you back when possible.
