Home Visits
The doctors are happy to make home visits to patients who are too ill to come to the surgery. Only the doctor can judge if a home visit is necessary, so a complete description of the patient’s condition should be given. Requests for home visits are preferably to be made before 10.00 am. Please provide the receptionist with details of the illness and a contact telephone number, so that the doctor can telephone if necessary to assess the problem.

Telephone Advice
If you feel you need to speak to a doctor please ring the receptionist and her some details. Your message will be passed to the doctor, who will return your call after surgery. In an emergency situation, your call will be transferred to the doctor immediately. Calls for the practice nurse may be put through if she is free. Otherwise, she will ring you back when possible.

PRESCRIPTION REQUESTS
A direct line is available for ordering repeat medication. The telephone number is 028 3834 3260. Please try to use this service whenever possible, rather than telephoning the receptionist during surgery hours. At these times a number of people may be trying to get through to make an urgent appointment or to order urgently needed  medication. Repeats may be ordered by telephoning the receptionist or in person, but please try to do this between 11.00 am and 12.00 noon or between 2.00 pm and 3.00 pm. Please ensure that you order your regular medication well in advance, to ensure that you do not run out of medication. Allow a full 24 hours before collection, and do remember that the Health Centre is closed at weekends. Acute prescriptions may be ordered through the receptionist. Morning requests are normally available for collection after 3 p.m. that day. Afternoon requests will be available the following morning. This is provided the doctor is willing to prescribe the item requested without seeing the patient. Certain drugs will not be issued without the patient being seen by the GP. Do remember that the pharmacist can help with many conditions. Simple coughs, colds and most sore throats do not need a doctor.

TEST RESULTS
Results of blood test, x-rays etc. may be obtained by telephoning after 2.30 pm, when the doctor will have seen the results. Please do not ring for results in the morning. Information will not be given to another person unless we have your prior permission. Certain results will not be given by telephone. The practice nurse will advise you as to how and when you may obtain your results.

PRIVATE MEDICAL SERVICES
The NHS does not cover certain services, and there will be a charge for these services as recommended by the BMA. This includes completion of private medical forms, pre-employment or life insurance medical examinations, HGV licence etc. Please contact reception staff, who will arrange an appointment and advise you of the fee.

DISABLED ACCESS
Our practice is on the ground floor of the Health Centre, providing easy access for disabled or elderly patients. A toilet suitable for wheelchair access is available.
